Your IT admin does this once for the school or district.
Add your users.
Add students and teachers to your Pencil Spaces institution. For Clever and ClassLink, include each student’s full name and the email on their account.
Approve Pencil Spaces.
Approve it in Google Workspace, grant consent in Entra ID, request it in your district’s Clever library, or approve it in ClassLink.
Test on a student device.
Sign in with a student test account. If anything is blocked, allowlist *.pencilapp.com and storage.googleapis.com, or contact our support team.

Questions, answered.
Is Google sign-in already on?
Yes. Google sign-in is on by default. If students see “Access blocked,” a Google Workspace admin needs to approve Pencil Spaces for your domain.
Do students need a separate Pencil Spaces password?
No. They sign in with the school account they already use.
Why do Clever and ClassLink need names and emails first?
To meet our COPPA and FERPA compliance requirements, we need each student’s full name and the email associated with their Clever or ClassLink account.
How long does Clever approval take?
Once your district submits its request in the Clever library, we typically approve it within 24 hours.
What should our network allow?
Allowlist *.pencilapp.com and storage.googleapis.com.
Does sign-in create class rosters?
No. Sign-in gets people into their account. To import rosters from your LMS or SIS, use our Edlink integration.
How is student data protected?
Pencil Spaces is FERPA, COPPA, GDPR and SOC 2 Type II compliant, and ISO 27001 certified.
