Move & Zoom
Go anywhere on the board.
How do you teach?
On a big board, it’s easy to lose your place, and students end up looking somewhere else. Move & Zoom lets you pan with the Move tool or spacebar, zoom in for detail, and jump back to center or fit everything in view.
Scrolling around a big board, you and your student lose the thread. Pan with the spacebar, zoom into the detail, and fit everything in view to see the whole lesson.
As the class board grows, students get lost in it. Zoom in to focus on one problem, then fit everything in view to show how it connects.
A large process map is useless if nobody can find their part. Zoom into each step, then fit everything in view for the big picture.
Small writing is unreadable from the back of the room. Zoom in on the classroom display for detail, then fit the whole board to show the bigger picture.
On the big screen, a crowded board is hard to read from the back. Zoom in for detail and fit to the whole board when you summarize.
When your child’s board gets big, it’s easy to get lost. Hold the spacebar to move around, and one click brings everything back into view.

Whiteboard
The problem
Everyone gets lost on a growing board
As the board grows, teachers and students lose their place. Detail is too small to read, and nobody can see how the pieces fit together.
The usual way
Teachers scroll aimlessly, ask “where are you?”, or start new boards to avoid the sprawl, splitting the lesson into pieces.
How Pencil Spaces solves it
The Move tool (shortcut M) or holding the spacebar pans the board. The navigator in the bottom corner goes back to the center or fits everything in view, and Shift+0 and Shift+1 zoom to 100% and fit.
What changes
Nobody gets lost as the board grows.

What it looks like
In practice
A teacher holds the spacebar to pan to the next problem, zooms in to write, then presses Shift+1 to fit the whole board and show how far the class has come.
In a 1:1 lesson
You zoom into your student’s working to check a sign, then press Shift+1 to show every problem you’ve done together this lesson.
In a group class
You zoom into one student’s answer to discuss it, then use the navigator to jump back to the center where the next task waits.
In a virtual training
You zoom into the risk section of the project map, then fit everything in view so the group sees where it sits in the plan.
In your classroom
You zoom in so the back row can read the equation on the display, then press Shift+0 to return to normal size.
In the training room
You zoom in on one team’s notes on the big screen, then fit everything in view to compare all the teams.
At home
Your daughter gets lost at the edge of her board. She clicks the navigator and she’s back in the center with her work.
