Identity Verification
Know who’s in before they join.
How do you teach?
When adults teach children over video, “who is really on the other end?” is a question you can’t leave open. Identity Verification checks each adult’s face and ID in the Waiting Room before they’re let in.
Families trust you to know exactly who teaches their child. Before each lesson, AI checks your tutor’s face against their ID in the Waiting Room, so the person teaching is the person you hired.
In an online school, a shared login means a stranger could be leading class. Each adult’s face and ID are checked in the Waiting Room before they can enter.
For certified training, you need to know the person in the Space is the person on the roster. Each adult participant’s face and ID are checked in the Waiting Room before they join.
In your classroom, you can see who is in the room. Identity Verification is for Spaces that adults join from somewhere else: it checks each adult’s face and ID before they come in.
In the room, you can see who showed up. When adults join a Space from their own devices elsewhere, Identity Verification checks each one’s face and ID before they’re admitted.
If your child learns with someone you’ve never met in person, you want proof of who they are. Each adult’s face and ID are checked before they can enter your child’s lesson.

The problem
An account is not a person
Logins can be shared and accounts passed on. Programs vet adults once, at hiring, and families have no way to confirm that the adult on screen is the one who was vetted.
The usual way
Most programs trust the login after the first background check. Nothing confirms who actually turns up to each lesson.
How Pencil Spaces solves it
This is a custom build. AI face and identity verification happens in the Waiting Room, before the lesson, and we use it for adults. Each adult is checked against their ID before they’re let in.
What changes
Every adult, verified. You know exactly who is teaching and who is learning, which protects your students, your teachers and your brand.
What it looks like
In practice
A teacher opens her 4:00 lesson. In the Waiting Room, AI checks her face against her ID, and once she’s verified she’s let in to teach.
In a 1:1 lesson
One of your tutors opens his 4:00 lesson. In the Waiting Room, AI checks his face against his ID, and only then does he enter the student’s Space.
In a group class
Before an evening class, the instructor waits in the Waiting Room while her face and ID are checked. Then she’s let in to teach 20 students.
In a virtual training
A compliance course requires proof of who attended. Each participant’s face and ID are checked in the Waiting Room, so you know who actually took the training.
In your classroom
A guest expert is joining your class on the screen from another city. Before she reaches your students, her face and ID are checked in the Waiting Room.
In the training room
An outside facilitator joins your workshop’s Space from another office. Her face and ID are checked in the Waiting Room before she can see the group’s work.
At home
Your daughter’s new tutor joins for the first time. Before he enters the lesson, his face and ID are checked in the Waiting Room, so you know he is who the company says he is.
