How it works
From the Wise course to the whiteboard.
Wise has its own words for things: institutes, courses, sessions and learners. Here’s where each step happens.
Before
Set it once, schedule as usual
An admin picks Pencil Spaces as the institute’s session provider.
Schedule one-to-one or group sessions in a course, as you do today.
Each session has a Space ready. Nobody creates one by hand.
During
One click from Wise
The tutor clicks Start on the session card.
Learners click Join when the Live tag appears.
Everyone works on the same whiteboard, on video.
After
Back to business
Boards and materials stay in the Space.
Credits, invoices and payroll stay in Wise.
Setup
Connected in three steps.
You need a Wise account, a Pencil Spaces account and a few minutes.
Generate your API key.
In Pencil Spaces, open Settings › API & Integrations and click Generate API Key. Copy it somewhere safe; it’s shown only once.
Choose Pencil Spaces in Wise.
In your Wise settings, find the session provider setting and pick Pencil Spaces.
Paste and save.
Paste your API key when Wise asks for it and click Save. New sessions now run in Pencil Spaces.

Questions, answered.
Do tutors and students need to share links?
No. Everyone joins from Wise and is signed in to Pencil Spaces automatically.
Is Pencil Spaces included in my Wise plan?
No. Pencil Spaces is a separate subscription. New customers get a two-week free trial on any paid plan, with no credit card required.
Who can create the API key?
Institution Admins, in Settings › API & Integrations. The key is shown only once, so store it somewhere safe.
What if Wise says the key didn’t work?
Check that you copied the whole key with no extra spaces, then paste it again. If it still fails, our support team can help.
How is student data protected?
Pencil Spaces is FERPA, COPPA, GDPR and SOC 2 Type II compliant, and ISO 27001 certified.
