When will the Apple School Manager integration be ready?
It’s in development now. Talk to the team and we’ll tell you when it’s ready for your school. In the meantime, we’ll help you set up single sign-on and Edlink rosters, which work today.
Can students sign in with Apple today?
Yes, with an Apple Account. On our sign-in page, choose More options, then Continue with Apple. Signing in with a Managed Apple Account from Apple School Manager is part of this integration.
What will Pencil Spaces read from Apple School Manager?
Only what your admin chooses to share: the people and classes in your organization, such as names, roles and class lists. Access is read-only, so Pencil Spaces can’t change anything in Apple School Manager.
Who approves the connection?
An Apple School Manager Administrator or Site Manager. They allow Pencil Spaces under Sign in with Apple, then approve Org Data Sharing. They can revoke access at any time.
Do we still need Edlink, Clever or ClassLink?
Not for classes that live in Apple School Manager. If your rosters live in another system, such as Canvas, PowerSchool or Schoology, Edlink brings them in today. Clever and ClassLink handle sign-in today too.
How is student data protected?
Pencil Spaces is FERPA, COPPA and GDPR compliant, ISO 27001 certified and SOC 2 audited. Your admin decides what Apple School Manager shares and can revoke access at any time.
