Commenting

Feedback that doesn’t wait.

Feedback only happens when everyone is in the lesson, so it arrives late or not at all. Commenting, in development, will let tutors and students comment on any board, page or piece of work, live or afterwards.

Feedback on homework waits until the next lesson. With Commenting, in development, you’ll mark up Tuesday’s homework and your student will see it Wednesday.

Feedback on thirty pieces of work can’t all happen live. Soon you’ll comment on any board or page, in threads, and students will reply between classes.

Feedback on exercises stalls between meetings. Commenting, in development, will let you comment on any board, mention people and resolve threads.

Feedback on work shown on the board disappears when the lesson ends. Soon you’ll leave comments on any board or piece of work for students to see later.

Commenting, in development, will let the group keep giving feedback on workshop boards after the room empties, in threads with mentions.

Your child will see their tutor’s comments on homework the next day, not a week later.

The problem

Feedback that’s late or ignored

Feedback only happens when tutor and student are in the same lesson. Homework waits a week for comments, and feedback is often just right or wrong.

La méthode habituelle

Tutors email notes or save feedback for the next lesson.

How Pencil Spaces solves it

Commenting brings feedback that does not need everyone in the room at once. Tutors and students will be able to comment on a board, a page or a piece of work, during the lesson or afterwards, reply in threads, mention each other, and resolve a thread once it is dealt with. A tutor can mark up Tuesday’s homework and the student sees it on Wednesday, without waiting for the next live lesson.

Quels sont les changements ?

Learning that keeps moving between lessons.

What we’re building

  • Comment on any board, page or object
  • Reply in threads, live or later
  • Mention a student or a co-tutor
  • Resolve a thread once it’s done

What it looks like

Dans la pratique

A tutor marks up Tuesday’s homework with comments on two steps. The student sees them Wednesday, replies in the thread with a question, and the tutor resolves it once it’s sorted.

In a 1:1 lesson

You comment on the second step of your student’s proof, and she fixes it before Friday.

In a group class

You mention a student on the class board, and she replies with her revised answer that night.

In a virtual training

You comment on each group’s plan after the training, and they resolve the threads before the next meeting.

In your classroom

You comment on a student’s essay draft, and she sees it at home that evening.

In the training room

After the workshop, people reply to your comments on their boards from their desks.

At home

Your daughter reads her tutor’s comment on last night’s homework and tries the problem again.
