Viewport Indicator

Write where students can see.

수업은 어떻게 진행하시나요?

Students on smaller screens can’t see everything you can, so you write a step off the edge of their view without knowing. The Viewport Indicator outlines the area every student has on screen.

Your student is on a small laptop, and you’re on a big monitor. Dotted lines show you exactly what they can see, so you never write off their screen.

Students join on phones, tablets and laptops with very different screens. Dotted lines show the area everyone can see, so your writing stays inside it.

Participants on small screens miss what’s at the edge of yours. The indicator shows the area everyone shares, so your notes stay in view.

Students following on Chromebooks see less than your display shows. Dotted lines mark the area every student can see, so nothing important falls outside.

The big screen shows more than participants’ laptops. Dotted lines mark what everyone can see, so you write where every laptop shows it.

If your child uses a tablet, the indicator shows their teacher what fits on their screen, so nothing is written where they can’t see.

The problem

You write where students can’t see

Teachers often have bigger screens than students. Without knowing what each student can see, they write steps off the edge, and students miss them.

일반적인 방법

Teachers ask “can everyone see this?”, keep zooming out, or discover the problem when a student asks what they missed.

How Pencil Spaces solves it

The viewport indicator draws dotted lines around the part of the board that all students can see at once, so the teacher knows what is on everyone’s screen.

변경 사항

No step is written off-screen.

What it looks like

실제로는

A teacher writes a solution and sees the dotted outline of her students’ view. She keeps the final step inside the lines, so everyone sees it.

In a 1:1 lesson

Your student is on an iPad. You see the dotted outline of his view and move your diagram inside it before you explain.

In a group class

Two students join on phones. The dotted lines show the shared view is small, so you write the key formula in the center.

In a virtual training

You notice your notes run past the dotted lines. You move them in, and participants on small laptops see the whole list.

In your classroom

You write the agenda inside the dotted lines on the display. Students on Chromebooks see every item.

In the training room

You keep the framework inside the dotted lines on the big screen, so participants following on laptops see all of it.

At home

Your daughter’s tablet shows less than her teacher’s screen. The teacher keeps everything inside the dotted lines.
