Recording Policies
Recording rules, set once.
When recording is left to each teacher, some lessons are recorded that shouldn’t be, and others aren’t when they should be. Recording Policies let you require, allow or turn off recording, and exclude student video for privacy.
Your safeguarding policy says every lesson with a minor is recorded, but tutors forget. Turn on always-on cloud recording, and every lesson follows the rule.
Some families object to their child being recorded on video. Exclude student video from recordings, and still keep a record of the lesson.
Some trainings must be recorded for compliance and others must never be. Set the rule once, and every training follows it.
Your district has strict rules on recording students. Turn recording off for everyone, or exclude student video, so every class Space follows them.
Set recording rules once for every workshop that runs on a Space call, so facilitators don’t decide case by case.
You may be uneasy about your child being recorded. Programs can exclude student video or turn recording off, and you can ask how theirs is set.

The problem
Recording decided lesson by lesson
Student data rules like COPPA, FERPA and GDPR, plus family concerns, mean recording has to be handled carefully. Leaving it to each teacher leads to gaps and breaches.
일반적인 방법
Programs write a policy and trust every teacher to remember it, every lesson.
How Pencil Spaces solves it
In Permissions settings, the Recording tab offers always-on cloud recording, host-controlled recording, or recording turned off for everyone, and student video can be excluded for privacy. Set the rule once and every lesson follows it. Recordings are reviewed inside Pencil Spaces and can be deleted by API.
변경 사항
Every lesson follows your policy.

What it looks like
실제로는
In Permissions settings, an admin sets the Recording tab to always-on cloud recording and excludes student video. Every lesson follows it, and recordings are reviewed inside Pencil Spaces.
In a 1:1 lesson
You set always-on recording for every lesson with a minor. Tutors can’t forget, and families know it’s policy.
In a group class
You exclude student video from recordings. Families are reassured, and lessons are still recorded for review.
In a virtual training
You set host-controlled recording for most trainings and always-on for compliance modules.
In your classroom
Your district turns recording off for everyone in elementary classes.
In the training room
You set recording off for workshops by default, so sensitive discussions aren’t captured.
At home
You ask your child’s program about recording, and they confirm student video is excluded.
